It feels like the season has just started but it’s almost half over. Summer is officially here and golf courses across the province are gearing up for another busy summer as the popularity of golf has surged in the past few years. A trend we all hope continues.

GETTING INVOLVED – STAYING INVOLVED
When I first entered the golf industry in BC, I was encouraged to get involved by attending chapter meetings, conferences, and events. It turned out to be sound advice. Over time, I was persuaded to join the Northern Chapter Board, followed by the Provincial Board. Steve Kerbrat has a knack for being very persuasive.

As I was travelling to our spring meeting in Prince George, I realized how much I enjoy and look forward to these meetings. Our Regional Chapter meetings provide education and networking opportunities, but we also have a little fun playing golf and socializing. Our colleagues become friends and that is what makes these events so much fun.

BRINGING THE EXCHANGE EVENT NORTH
The Northern Chapter is excited to host the BCGSA Exchange Event this year at the Prince George Golf & Curling Club. The planning committee has organized a unique event you won’t want to miss, hosted by Superintendent Murray Kutyn.

Murray will have the curling ice installed and we are going to have a mini curling bonspiel on the first night. We hope you join us in Prince George on September 15-16. Thank you to the Exchange committee for their work in planning this event.

The Professional Development Days are being held in Victoria from December 3-5. Our Operations Manager, Jenn Rozek, does a great job keeping everybody updated on the BCGSA news and events on our new website as well as through email via the Super News.
