FALL 2025
A Look Back at Summer
It is hard to believe we are coming to the end of another season, it feels like just yesterday we were preparing to open our golf courses for the summer. Throughout the season, I often found myself commenting that it was the perfect weather for growing grass. And indeed, the weather was on our side for most of the summer with warm days, periodic rains, and overall ideal conditions for course maintenance.
The heat arrived a little later than usual in August, and unfortunately, so did the smoke. Still, with the good summer weather, rounds played have continued to increase across the province, with many courses setting all-time records.
The North Hosts a Stellar Exchange
One of the highlights of the year for the Northern Chapter was hosting the Exchange Event at the Prince George Golf & Curling Club. It was a real pleasure to welcome members from across the province.
A special congratulations and thank you to Host Superintendent Murray Kutyn, his Assistant Don McDermid, and the entire staff for their incredible hospitality and hard work. The golf course was in fantastic shape, and the curling ice was fast and fun, a perfect combination for a successful event.
The Skins game at Pine Valley Golf Course was another enjoyable addition to the Exchange, and the curling event was an absolute blast. These kinds of gatherings really help strengthen our association, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who took time away from their busy schedules to attend. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors – your continued support makes these events possible, and we are truly grateful.
Anticipating December’s Conference
Looking ahead, we are excited about the upcoming Professional Development Days in December, taking place at the Marriott Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort. We have assembled a fantastic lineup of speakers, along with dedicated sessions for equipment technicians and a horticulturists, offering something for everyone. We hope to see a strong turnout and know it will be a valuable and engaging experience for all attendees.
In closing, thank you to all members, volunteers, and sponsors for your continued support throughout the season. It has been another successful year, and we are already looking forward to what the next one brings, especially the Exchange Event hosted by the Interior Region in 2026.
Sincerely,
Mark Berg
